Here is our kitchen, before our next renovation project starts!
We like the general look of the kitchen - it’s spaceous and very functional. From a distance, it looks pretty nice. We’re planning to keep the wood look. Ideally, we would just like to touch up the bits of wear and tear; we are not planning to replace the cabinets at this time.
Project summary:
- Done - Refinish the minor wear and tear on the exterior cabinets. Keep wood look - same color. Not painted.

Planning for new granite counters and updated appliances
Nice view! We also like the curved shelves on the right side for displaying items.
We’d like to replace the country style tile with something a little more elegant.
Planning for new double sink - stainless. Update faucets to symmetrical position, install new faucets. Keep satin nickel finish.
The kitchen has a good, functional layout. No changes to layout in the renovation.
Redo tile backplash - and maybe extend it under the microwave
Butler's Pantry - new cabinet here, matching wood/color, plus new granite top
Desk Area - Granite to replace Corian, and minor repairs to wood (dog-chewed corner)
Minor hinge touchups to fix alignment?
Refinish to fix pet scratches on one of the cabinet doors
Minor finish defects to repair?
Upper cabinets look pretty nice
We like this detail! No changes here.
The Corian is showing its age - change to granite. Also there are some minor pet scratches on the lower wood, if these can be touched up
Tiling transition. Have to design the new backsplash to fit under the window and outlets.
Tiles - to be changed to new backsplash. Get rid of country-style outlet covers. These don’t match the look we want to go to (more elegant)
Upper cabinet interior - good shape. The upper cabinets are in good shape throughout.
Interior of most of the lower cabinets is okay. Two have some interior floor damage.
Can anything easy/low-cost be done to change out cheap sliders for soft-close sliders? If not, then we’ll keep the drawers as is.
Desk area needs minor wood repair for dog-chewed corner. (P.S. Not our dog - previous owner.)
